"MERRY PRANKSTER FOR LIFE" by Jouquin Fox,
A 7 track EP cataloguing that feeling of a new beginning during select moments of post-graduation.


"Hey, Jouquin here. These are songs of me piecing myself back together after graduation, similar to the morning after a trip. I tried my best to transport you into my mind during slivers of thought amongst moments visiting my parents in Colorado "minding on going garage sale, slow," and falling in love, riding around listening to CA$KETGIRL and I's favorite songs during the summer "222... we busy love, goodie too, I know The Light, Falling out the Sky," all the while finding time to ruminate with my friends cunabear and Rail G in between performances at "ICTFest 2023."

Written on the spine and cover of this project are hoorahs and mantras to past lives, when creating music with friends known for years was easier due to physical proximity. I used to call my friend group the Merry Pranksters having been a hippy and beatnik fan, and feeling like my friends and I embodied the free spirit of both groups, albeit in a modern age where we were a bit more tame and were similar only in our interest of the arts, jazz, poetry, mind altering for the better, and trying to do live for yourself. The project also serves as signal of our continued, shared mindet, of moving further, and onward, even when this floating rock is imploding and the sky is falling.
The Merry Pranksters even played part in my first project under my real name, "Scabbed Over Stars On My Ex-Haired Chest" (2020) [ steadyaudio.bandcamp.com/album/scabbed-over-stars-on-my-ex-haired-chest ]
with Daniel Willis and I making a couple beats together while hanging out with our other Pranksters, his twin Luke Willis and our other friend Avandre Jones, who is no longer with us. This project is just as much about acknowledging mistakes, trying to be a better person, and allowing the people who are meant to be around, stick around, though. A representation of new friends and family while keeping in touch with old friends and family, whilst unifying all of them into one snug life of love.

The hook on "ICTFest 2023", harkens back to these ideas nicely, shared by cuna and I, two friends who haven't seen each other in years in a completely new world but maintaining similar mindsets,
"huffing carcinogens ain't nice, but the love... BUT THE LOVE!"

Bloomcycle (Big Flowers), Robert Mouse, Vellum Bristol, and Choice provide a psychedelic funk and soul inspired landscape for this spiritual successor to my first project released, "fox" (2017) [ nounouhau.bandcamp.com/album/fox ]
Consider "MERRY PRANKSTER FOR LIFE" a formal re-introduction.
